March 14-15:
More Stamp dates and places from the U.S.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries
When the 1998 U-S stamp program was first announced last
November, the Postal Service only released the approximate
dates of most of the stamps -- summer... June...July or
August. Actual dates weren't announced until right before
the stamps were issued.
Stamp collectors weren't happy about that, and now the
Postal Service has fleshed out more of the schedule. For
instance, the Tweety and Sylvester Looney Tunes stamp will
be issued April 27th in New York City. You can see a
complete schedule in the stamp newspapers and on the
Internet at w-w-w-dot-delphi-dot-com slash-Stamps.
This week's issue is Flowering Trees, 5 stamps that will
be released Thursday at the four-day Mega-Event stamp
show in New York City. That show is sponsored by the
Postal Service, the American Stamp Dealers Association,
and the American Philatelic Society. There will be
exhibits, seminars, lots of dealers and a large youth
area with plenty of giveaways for the kids.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
