The Start and the End of the Century.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries
Next week, the Postal Service continues its Celebrate the
Century series, honoring the first years of the
20th Century. It'll unveil stamps for Frank Lloyd
Wright's architecture, the Teddy Bear, the First World
Series, the Pure Food and Drug Act, and the Gibson Girls,
a popular style of clothing. The stamps, though, won't
be available in your local post offices until early next
month.
As the century CLOSES, more and more stamp collectors are
turning to the Internet.
And there are a wide variety of resources for us on the
web, both philatelic and not. For instance, the other
day I wanted some information on the Year of the Tiger,
for which so many countries are issuing stamps. And I
found it, on a website. There are stamp auctions,
stamp discussion groups, stamp chats, email lists and
software for stamp collectors.
In fact, you can reach ME on the Internet -- my email
address is stamps@pobox.com.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
