Update on Jenny

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Last year the U-S Postal Service celebrated the most famous error stamp of all time by
issuing a reprint. The Inverted Jenny from 1918 shows a Curtiss J-N-4 bi-plane, but the
blue center of the 24-cent stamp — the part with the plane — is upside down. The Postal
Service produced the reprint with a two-dollar face value, in six-stamp sheets.

But the Postal People gave it a twist: They printed one hundred of the mini-sheets with
the airplane RIGHTSIDE-up... and scattered them throughout their sales system.

“We think it will be fun.” RUNS :02

....Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe told me then.

Dealers have paid as much as 45-THOUSAND dollars for these twelve-dollar sheets. But you
can’t tell before buying whether you have won this lottery or not. Your odds are
one-in-22-thousand.

Inside the rightside-up sheets’ packaging is a card inviting you to call the Postal
Service to announce your find. Only 13 people have so far... but Linn’s Stamp News says
TWENTY have turned up. One was just discovered in Ohio.

That means there are still 80 out there. Now the question is...Do YOU feel lucky?
