The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Philatelic reporters were given a look at the U-S commemorative stamps planned for 2011 
recently. 

Usually the Legends of Hollywood stamps use a publicity photo of the subject, but Postal 
Service stamps chief Dave Failor says Gregory Peck's family had another idea.

"They really wanted us to feature him on the stamp as Atticus Finch, his greatest role, 
his most important role." :08

Other people on next year's stamps include actress Helen Hayes, Ronald Reagan, Mark 
Twain....and five Legends of Latin Music -- one of whom is 1990s pop star Selena.

"I think the Selena stamp probably is one that resonates more to a younger generation. 
When I was in high school, some of her songs were very popular and on the radio." :09

says Jay Bigalke, the 27-year-old associate editor of Linn's Stamp News.

Historical subjects include the Civil War, the Indianapolis 500, and the Project Mercury 
space program, along with a stamp commemorating the exploration of the planet Mercury.

There's also plenty of art next year: An Edward Hopper painting, industrial design of 
common household objects, and African-American art.
