So many stamps, so little time.
The Stamp Collecting Report. I'm Lloyd de Vries.
The Postal Service has announced even more stamps to handle the postal rates that begin
May 12th. From mid-April to mid-May, it will issue 14 different stamps and countless
varieties.
It's also reprinting the Forever stamp. The only change is that these will have a tiny
2008 date on them. Sales have surged since the rate hike was announced
There will be a set of four stamps showing the U-S flag at different times of the day.
Eventually, there will also be a 42-cent Sunflower stamp in various formats.
The postcard rate will be handled by five different tropical fruit stamps. There will be
27-cent postcards featuring Mount Saint Mary's College and a Corinthian-style column at
the U-S Capitol.
The new Priority Mail stamp will feature Mount Rushmore and Express Mail will be carried
by a Hoover Dam stamp.
There will also be 42-cent versions of the Purple Heart and Celebrate stamps.
There's even a Dragonfly stamp for one of the new rates.
Added to all the commemoratives that have been on hold for the new rates, the next few
months will be VERY busy for stamp collectors and postal clerks.
