Old Blue Eyes Is Back.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
MUSIC: "It was a very good year...." :04 and under
In the past few weeks, a major compilation of recordings from the first dozen or so years
of Frank Sinatra's career has been released, and the Postal Service has announced a stamp
in his honor. Any way you look at it, the chairman of the board, Old Blue Eyes, is back --
if he was ever away.
Nancy Sinatra says she's delighted by the stamp.
"I'm thrilled for him. I think it ranks up there with having a building named for you."

...which the Postal Service did a few years ago. But buildings and monuments are one thing,
says Nancy Sinatra. A stamp is different.
"The stamp reminds me of him, because it's going to go everywhere in the world, as he did."

She never had any doubts there WOULD be a stamp for him: A few months after her father died,
at the unveiling of another stamp, she was told there would be a stamp some day.
"I spoke with the people there that night, the U.S. Postal people, and they said, 'Of course.
It's in the works. Don't worry.'"

As if Frank Sinatra's music and acting weren't enough, his daughter says his charity is
worthy of a stamp, as Pope John once told her grandmother.
"The pope whispered to her, quietly, 'Your son is like God. He does charity, he does good
deeds, without talking about it."

Watch for the stamp in the spring.
