Speculation Melts Away

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries. 

Just a week after it was issued, a booklet pane of the Snowflakes stamps intended for 
machine vending was sold out at the main postal facility that services stamp collectors. 
And it didn't take long to see them selling on eBay at triple their face value -- 
twenty-one dollars instead of seven. A stamp newspaper ad offered one for twenty-five 
bucks.

There was just one hitch: These A-T-M panes weren't sold out, they were being held back 
to fulfill their purpose: Being sold after Thanksgiving at A-T-M's, Automated Postal 
Centers and other vending machines. 

We're seeing reports of their availability now from post offices all over the country. 
You can buy as many as you want, at face value. The Automated Postal Centers don't tell 
you which stamps you're getting -- I got flags -- but they may have a little sign on them 
offering Snowflakes.

Should you lay in a supply? Not unless you're planning to mail some holiday cards.
