Sneak Peak
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
In a few weeks, the U-S will announce the stamps it plans to issue next year....but we already
have a pretty good idea about some of them.
When Britain's Royal Mail unveiled ITS Two Thousand Six stamp program last month, there at the
top of the list was a joint issue with the U-S for Children's Book Illustrations. That means
both countries will issue stamps at the same time with the same theme.
Earlier this year, Germany said on its website that there would be a joint issue with the U-S
for John Augustus Roebling, the chief engineer of the Brooklyn Bridge. But in a later dispatch,
Germany pulled back on whether there would be a matching U-S stamp.
What we DO know is that the U-S will have stamps next year for the expected rate change, and
the annual series such as Black Heritage, Disney, Hollywood, Nature, and Christmas and for the
three hundredth anniversary of the birth of Ben Franklin -- the first Postmaster General.
Good bets include the Winter Olympics and the National Road.
And that's Stamp Collecting this week.
