Stamp Schedules Written in the Sand.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
The U-S Postal Service changes the schedule of stamps it's issuing so often,
it keeps collectors on their toes, checking to see what stamps are coming
out and when.
There may be posters in your post office saying the Audrey Hepburn stamp is
set for release this month. It's not. It's now scheduled for June 11th.
The Purple Heart stamp, commemorating the medal for wounded members of the
military, was announced last summer, but no date was given. It will be
issued May 30th, on the original, traditional date for Memorial Day.
There will be new Eagle stamps at the end of June for bulk mailings -- 10
different designs on the same coil. Except the designs aren't really
different: There are five different pairs of colors. So, for example, one of
the stamps is a gold eagle on a blue background, and another is a BLUE eagle
on a gold background. The idea seems to be that you'll want to pay more
attention to your junk mail so you can get all ten stamps.
We'll see.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
