Getting ready for Stampshow.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Not just any stamp show, but THE Stampshow, the American
Philatelic Society's annual convention. It's next weekend
in Cleveland, starting on Thursday, and is co-sponsored by
the American Stamp Dealers Association and the Postal Service.

In addition to dealers, meetings, and a large well-stocked
and -staffed youth area, a number of stamp rarities will be
on view. Among them - the 1868 one-cent blue Z grill, the
most valuable U-S stamp. Last year, it was sold for just
under a million dollars. There also will be a Jenny Invert
- that's the upside-down airplane - and the original Dag
Hammarskjold inverts from 1962.

This will be the first show sponsored by the three
organizations with mixed counter heights at the dealer booths.
Many collectors and dealers had complained that the counters
were too high and didn't allow customers to sit and browse.

The U-S issues a set of 5 stamps at the show Thursday saluting
the heyday of passenger trains.

And that's stamp collecting this week.
