Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane -- it's a
STAMP!

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Although there's still no official word from the Postal
Service, the CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER newspaper reports not
only will Superman will be one of the subjects of the 1930s
Celebrate the Century stamps, but the entire sheet of 15
will be issued in Cleveland on September 10th. That's the
60th anniversary of Superman's first appearance in Action
Comics Number One. The Man of Steel was created by two high
school friends in Cleveland.

Various sources tell CBS News the other fourteen subjects
for the 1930s sheet are Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt,
Gone With the Wind, Household Appliances, golfer Bobby
Jones, track star Jesse Owens, Streamlined Design, the
1939 World's Fair, the Empire State Building, the Great
Depression, Life Magazine, the New Deal, the Golden Gate
Bridge, and the game Monopoly.

[music up and out: ends]

And that's stamp collecting this week,

I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
