For broadcast on CBS Radio Network stations
June 20-21:
A stamp collecting organization for kids.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries
It's called the Junior Philatelists of America. The
officers are all age 18 or less, although guided by an
adult board of directors. It publishes a newsletter every
other month and booklets with tips for beginners. J-P-A
also sponsors contests and has committees that provide help
and information on individual subjects.
But perhaps the best part of being a member is that people
will send the kids stamps just because they're young
collectors. Free. No strings attached.
Because the Junior Philatelists of America is celebrating
its 35th anniversary, dues this year are just seven dollars
in the U-S, and a family membership for two or more is
twelve.
You can get more information by writing the J-P-A at
Box 850, Boalsburg, Pennsylvania 1-6-8-2-7 or visit the
website at www.jpastamps-dot-org. It also holds chats on the
Internet every Saturday evening.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
