To boldly go where no stamps have gone before.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Both the U-S and Canada will be issuing stamps this year saluting the 50th anniversary
of “Star Trek.” The U-S, because it was an American cultural phenomenon, and Canada
presumably because two of its stars were Canadian actors — William Shatner and James
Doohan.
The four U-S designs are artwork “inspired” by Star Trek elements — the Starship
Enterprise, a Vulcan salute, and a crew member on a transporter. So far, most stamp
collectors are underwhelmed.
Canada Post has shown two designs of an unknown number of stamps. One is a photograph
of Shatner as Captain James T Kirk in the 60’s and the other, a photo of the Enterprise.
Neither country is telling us much else about the stamps — not when or where they will
be issued. Canada Post says “later this spring,” the U-S Postal Service, “in the third
quarter.”
The U-S has issued another Star Trek stamp, back in 1999.... as part of the Celebrate
The Century series.
Such are the voyages of stamps for the Starship Enterprise.
