Some of the year’s more spectacular U-S stamps are coming up. There’s jazz singer Sarah
Vaughan, part of the Music Icons series.... 20 Pet stamps, and — at the big international
stamp show in New York starting Memorial Day Weekend — four issues: Repeal of the Stamp
Act, Planets, Pluto and stamps for the show itself.

But wait: A recent newsletter from the show says there will be SEVEN issues at the show.
Organizers themselves don’t know what the other three are.

And it’s not official, but pretty definite, that there will be something in August for
the hundredth anniversary of the National Park Service. Another rumor is that this year’s
secular Christmas issue will be “The Grinch That Stole Christmas.”

[“You’re mean one, Mr. Grinch....” music]

Yes, the Postal Service did outline its 20-16 stamp program for us late last year — but
it always holds back a few exciting issues... for maximum publicity.
