The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The U-S Postal Service's list of upcoming stamp subjects for the next three years has
leaked. Again.

It's pretty much the same list that was published a year ago in Linn's Stamp News, a
hobby newspaper. This time, it was the mainstream Washington Post, and listed them by
year.

It includes Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Elvis Presley, James Brown, and Johnny Carson
next year, Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and pickup trucks in 20-16, and, eventually,
a John Lennon stamp.

It confirms Wilt Chamberlain, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and hot rod cars for this
year, and something many stamp collectors knew, that the Postal Service has stamp designs
ready to go for the living ex-presidents and is working on one for Barack Obama (even if
it can't spell his name right).

It also confirms a decided turn toward the commercial for U-S stamps, but then, the
Postmaster General already said that.

More interesting to me is that someone leaked the list TWICE…. Probably because it didn't
get enough attention the first time. But why? One theory is that the leaker doesn't like
the direction the stamp program is going.

But I don't think spilling the beans is going to change that.
