Problems with the Program
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Now we know why the Just Move physical fitness stamps were never issued by the U-S: According to Linn's Stamp News, White House advisors objected to three of the 15 stamp designs, which were supposed to promote the First Lady's efforts to encourage physical activity by children.
They say the cannonball dive into a swimming pool is unsafe, and two of the stamps don't show protective gear.
The stamps had already been printed, and now all are being destroyed.
There are other problems in the U-S stamp program: All 13 members of the Postal Service's Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee have sent a letter to the Postmaster General, saying they're not being listened to.
In an interview last month, stamp program chief Susan McGowan told me there HAVE been some problems in this first year of new management.
"It was challenging coming into this job. We had a lot of new people, we had new processes to put in place." RUNS :06
It sounds as if there are still more challenges.
