Those words riveted the word in 1969, as U-S astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first
human to walk on the moon.

With his recent death, there are calls for a U-S stamp in his honor....and such a stamp
IS a certainty. The only question is when.

The Postal Service still has a rule about not honoring someone within 5 years of death,
other than U-S presidents. There was a plan to honor LIVING people, but the Postal Service
Board of Governors had misgivings, and so the rule is in limbo.

But some would argue that Neil Armstrong has already been featured on U-S stamps, starting
just a few months after that historic moon landing. Several feature Armstrong stepping
onto the Moon; another, a photo of astronaut Buzz Aldrin that Armstrong took, which shows
him in the reflection off the helmet.

And it's just a matter of time until a stamp specifically honoring Neil Armstrong, the
first man on the moon, lands in your post office.
