Next year’s stamps.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
U-S Postal Service Stamp program manager Steve Kearney isn't revealing the whole schedule,
but says history is important in 20-13.
“We’re going to do a set of 3 Civil Rights-related stamps, and the one I've told you about
so far is the hundred-fiftieth anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.”
RUNS :11
I believe the other two are Rosa Parks — it's the hundredth anniversary of her birth — and
the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech.
“We’re also starting series of music icons with Lydia Mendoza. We plan to do two other
famous popular musicians later in the year, and the sheets of stamps look like 45 record
sleeves.”
RUNS :11
I don't have a clue yet who the other two are.
And Kearney hopes to issue a set of stamps at the Daytona Five Hundred NASCAR auto race.
3:08 “We’re doing muscle cars from the 60s and 70s. There's certainly a big following for
those types of cars.”
RUNS :06
And the Lunar New Year stamp for the Year of the Snake features firecrackers.
Kearney also promises a new entry in the Legends of Hollywood series... which was skipped
this year.... and we know there will be new stamps in the Civil War and War of 1812
series. We just don't know which battles.
