Putting US in U-S

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

There are many organizations for stamp collectors in the U-S. The biggest, covering
everyone, is the American Philatelic Society.
But there's also the U-S Stamp Society.

"We specialize in the stamps of the United States and its possessions, and any affiliated
areas, unlike the A-P-S, which basically covers everything, covers the world." :09

Nick Lombardi ought to know: He's a vice president of the American Philatelic Society,
and president of the U-S Stamp Society, which publishes a magazine 12 times a year.

"We try to cover everybody's interest at some point in time. Everything from new issues
involving die cuts to essays and proofs of early Bureau issues." :11

The U-S Stamp Society has groups of members on specific subjects -- almost like specialist
societies.

"If you have or develop an interest in one of those particular areas, and you want more
information and want to get in touch with people who have a specialized interest in those
areas, those are the sub-groups that you can join, and there's no additional cost. It all
comes with the dues." :15

Collecting hundred-year-old stamps doesn't have to be expensive.

"The stamps I specialize in, the 1903 2-cent Washington Shield issue, it's maybe ten
dollars, and used copies are 20 cents." :08
