Waving the flag

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The U-S Postal Service now offers Forever stamps in coil format. There are two different 
designs on each roll of stamps, the Flag and Statue of Liberty, and both stamps were 
designed by Terry McCaffrey.

Now, as the head of the stamp development department, he could have assigned a designer, 
but no one wanted them.

"Many of the art directors are so involved with more challenging projects, whether it's 
doing Alzheimer's or American Scientists and how you make them attractive, so they haven't 
given the time or effort to those definitive stamps."  :16

So McCaffrey decided to do them himself.

"And it also allows me the opportunity to keep my hand in the design field." :04

And although McCaffrey retired at the end of the year, we'll still see his work on future 
stamps.

"I think it's safe to say, and I'm not letting the cat out of the bag, that there will be 
future stamp designs featuring the U-S flag." :06

And possibly -- though he won't say -- some other subjects as well.
