A stamp at the White House.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
I'm here at the White House for the launch of the "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" stamp,
sung by Kenny Chesney.
(song, establish and fade)
The ceremony was between games of the T-Ball All-Star Celebration, here at the White
House.
Kids: "It was looked coooooollllll." "It was very nice."
Now, there were events that were probably more baseball-related this week: The Major
League All-Star Game in New York, the Fan Fest trade show -- even a Giants-Cubs game at
Wrigley, broadcast on the Armed Forces Network. But when the White House says it wants
the ceremony...
LdeV: "Was there any question about holding it here when they asked?"
PMG Jack Potter: "Absolutely not. In fact, we were delighted that we were able to do it
the day after the All-Star Game, when we get a lot of great media coverage. You know,
it was a fabulous day. There were 51 All-Stars out here, and it was a great event for
baseball, as well as a great event for the Postal Service."
