It's practically summer, and while both the economy and the travel industry are not exactly 
encouraging, there are a number of stamp collecting shows scheduled around the country. 
Chances are there's one not too far from you.

There are three major shows that move around to different cities each year. This year, the 
National Topical Stamp Show -- for people who collect by subject -- will be held near 
Portland, Oregon, in mid-June.

The American Philatelic Society -- the overall stamp collecting group -- is holding its show 
in Hartford, Connecticut, in mid-August. 

And the American First Day Cover Society is meeting the following week in Falls Church, 
Virginia, near Washington.

Also this summer are annual shows in McLEAN, Virginia...Minneapolis...and Baltimore, as well 
as smaller shows all over.

The Internet is fine, but nothing beats seeing the stamps and stamp collectors in person.
