Setting Limits

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries. 

Most stamp collectors start out collecting everything -- every stamp they find from every 
country. And once upon a time, that was the way most stamp collectors KEPT collecting.

But in today's world, that's not practical for most people. There are more stamp-issuing 
countries, and they all issue more stamps than they used to.

So, as stamp collectors become more experienced, most decide to specialize in types of 
stamps that especially interest them. 

It may be all the stamps of a particular country or region....or all stamps from every 
country issued before Ninteen Forty or another date.... or stamps on a particular subject. 
They may specialize in types of stamps -- stamps for air-mail, blocks of stamps with 
printing plate numbers on them, stamps that came in a roll -- or items related to stamps 
-- envelopes that fulfilled a particular function in carrying the mail, postmarks, or even 
the announcements that stamps would be issued.

The possibilities are endless.
