A look back at next year
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
When next year's stamp subjects were announced to stamp collecting writers last August,
we were given, oh, maybe a minute to lookat each design -- no photographs allowed. Now
that the designs have been released, we can study them.
For instance, we thought there were eight Pollination stamps, in two blocks of four.
Now, on closer look, we realize there are FOUR stamps, arranged two different ways.
"If you look at it as one block of 4, it's completely different than if you look at it
as another block of four."

....says the Postal Service's Dave Failor.
Collectors so far don't seem to think much of the designs for Jury Duty or Oklahoma
Statehood. They agree with Failor about the International Polar Year stamps....
"They're spectacular photos that we're going to use."

And a beloved Disney character finally gets recognition.
"People would come up to us and say, 'Gee, when is Tinker Bell going to be on a stamp?'"
