Marketing One-Oh-One
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
The U-S is issuing some beautiful and interesting stamps. Just this month, the new ones
includes Henry Fonda, Modern American Architecture, and Scientists. But will you be able
to FIND them?
Recently, a co-worker complained that all his post office has are boring stamps. I
suggested he go to a Postal Store, a retail-style area in some post offices. "Fine," he
said, "where can I find one near me?"
Um, good question.
There's no list on the U-S-P-S-dot-com website...so I called postal headquarters. There's
no list there either! I finally called a local postal press rep and got a list.
YOUR best bet for finding a Postal Store may be to ask the clerks in your post office
where the nearest one is.
Even if you do find one, however, what they offer seems to vary widely. I'm hearing
reports of more and more space at some stores being devoted to trinkets instead of stamps.
Hey, Postal Service: You can't sell your stamps if you don't make them available.
And that's Stamp Collecting this week.
I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
