Hail to the Chief
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
["Hail To The Chief" :03 and under]
Washington rolls out the red carpet this week for the start of President Bush's second term,
and the Postal Service will be offering a souvenir envelope.
"It features a photographic reproduction of President bush and Vice President Cheney"
RUNS :05
Dave Failor, in charge of stamps for the Postal Service, says the style is taken from a 1908
campaign postcard for William Jennings Bryan. The souvenir envelope -- called a "cover" by
collectors -- also features one of the Postal Service's new color postmarks.
"It's a reproduction of the presidential seal. We got approval from the White House to be able
to use it, and I think it's going to be a very nice addition to those covers."
RUNS :08
Four years ago, you could only buy these souvenirs in Washington or by mail, but this year,
you may be able to find them locally.
"We've decided to try to expand this out and have it featured in our postal stores around
the country. There's like 1200 around the country or so."
RUNS :07
And that's Stamp Collecting this week.
