Collecting Gifts
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
It's beginning to look a lot like....well, you know. So our thoughts are turning to buying
gifts for stamp collectors. While it's hard to know exactly what a specialist wants, here
are some general-purpose gifts that nearly all collectors will appreciate.
There's the "Postal Service Guide To U-S Stamps," available in some post offices and postal
stores, for about twenty-three dollars, or less than sixteen on Amazon. It's a bright,
colorful catalogue.
Most serious collectors in the U-S use the Scott catalogues, which are now available on disk.
An upgrade from the paper edition might work if you know which one your collector uses.
How about a subscription to a monthly magazine? There's Scott Stamp Monthly, for thirty-two
dollars a year, which you can find at scott-online-dot-com, and American Philatelist, which
is included in membership in the American Philatelic Society. In fact, A-P-S membership
might make a good gift: It's thirty-five dollars a year. Visit stamps-dot-org.
And that's Stamp Collecting this week.
I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
