The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries. 

After doubling the size of the United States with the Louisiana Purchase, President 
Jefferson sent an expedition headed by William Clark and Meriwether Lewis to explore 
the new territory and find an overland route to the Pacific Northwest. The group 
started its journey near St. Louis, where the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers meet, 
on May 14th, eighteen-oh-four <1804>.

To mark the anniversary, the Postal Service is issuing three thirty-seven cent stamps 
exactly two hundred years later. One of the stamps, showing Lewis and Clark looking 
over the plains, should be in your post office next weekend. The other two, portraits 
of Lewis and Clark, are in a special booklet with additional pictures and text. It 
costs a dollar-fifty-five more than the price of the 20 stamps, and will be a little 
harder to find: Check post offices with special retail areas, the U-S-P-S-dot-gov 
Web site or call 800-Stamps-24.
