Kids In Space
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Morgan Hill, Sarah Lipsey, Ashley Young and Zachary Canter
probably haven't quite come back down to Earth yet. Next
Thursday, the space stamps they designed for the U.S. will
be issued, and the four will be on hand in Southern
California for the ceremony.
They were all either 9 or 11 when they won the Postal Service
art competition two years ago. Morgan's stamp shows a family
rocketship approaching the planet Jupiter.
"It just pretty much means that nobody knows much about
Jupiter and hopefully that children can go into space and
maybe even help find out some stuff about Jupiter."
RUNS :10
Sarah Lipsey's stamp also has a message...
"In the background it has a world shaped like a heart and
it's got five children from all over the world holding hands
and it has stars and some of them have five points and some
have six points and they represent the different religions all
over the world." RUNS :12
Zachary's stamp shows kids on space skateboards...Ashley's
stamp, a golden retriever on the moon, wearing a space helmet.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
