Gearing up for Summer.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
There are four major stamp shows this summer, any of which
might anchor a fun vacation.
Next month, the American Topical Association -- the people
who collect stamps by subject -- meets in Buffalo. A side
trip to Niagara Falls is planned.
In July, the Postal Service itself hosts a ten-day show in
Anaheim, and it will issue seven different sets of space
stamps. Rare stamps and space memorabilia will be on display,
and postal agencies from around the world will participate.
The people who collect special envelopes called First Day
Covers will gather in Houston in early August for Americover,
an often-irreverent stamp show featuring a tour of the
Johnson Space Center planned as well as a dinner cruise.
And at the end of the month, the American Philatelic Society
meets in Providence. That will feature exhibits and seminars
for both beginners and advanced collectors.
For more details on these shows, drop me a note -- I'm stamps

And that's stamp collecting this week.
